IRDAI Chairman Mr. T S Vijayan recently launched a portal named 'Registry of Hospitals in Network of Insurers' (ROHINI) to ensure a centralized depository of information pertaining to health insurance.
IRDAI Chairman Mr. T S Vijayan recently launched a portal named 'Registry of Hospitals in Network of Insurers' (ROHINI) to ensure a centralized depository of information pertaining to health insurance.
ROHINI will contain important information concerning treatment facility, treatment rate, cost of claims etc. regarding 35000 hospitals registered with Insurance Information Bureau (IIB). IRDAI has provided a unique identification number to the hospitals offering cashless insurance facility. This enables IIB to observe health insurance claim patterns with regards to these hospitals.
This initiative by the IRDAI is aimed to benefit the insured, insurance companies and hospitals, as all data will be present in one portal. Sanjay Datta, ICICI Lombard Chief Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance, said, "This is a good initiative for creating a unique identity for health providers in the country so as to understand each provider's unique need separately. It will help insurers understand various aspects of healthcare and various types of healthcare and treatment facility being provided by the 4500+ hospitals that fall under ICICI Lombard's network."
